Hi, my name is Ainsley!

Hey there! If you’re visiting my website, you’re probably interested in knowing a little more about me. As you can probably tell, I’m a content writer with a particular focus on developing and writing in specific voices for brands. When I worked for SLMG CO-OP, my manager told me that my knack for understanding and implementing the brand voice was my super power. I worked to help develop SLMG’s style guide, as well as a style guide for our consortium partner, The Elite Event Company. I also edited grant proposals and cover letters for our company’s grant writer, helping to make the tone of these important documents more approachable and human while staying professional.

Before starting my career in content writing, I got a degree in English from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While I was studying there, I took courses in business writing, journalism, technical writing/editing, and creative writing. I am extremely grateful for all of the experiences I had in school, and for the amazing professors who helped me grow as a writer. I am proud to say that I will be a rebel forever!

As a Content Writer for SLMG CO-OP, I wrote everything from website ad copy to social media posts to style guides and company training materials. In this role I learned to adapt my writing voice for different audiences, switching seamlessly from one project to the next. I learned how to focus on all the little details that make content persuasive and engaging, honing in on the needs and interests of my intended audience. I also focused on search engine optimization, doing keyword research and learning the best ways to get my writing into the top results on Google.

In my work at the Trans Formations Project, I help create a weekly newsletter that educates people about LGBTQ+ issues. We collect information about legislation that will impact the community and translate it into language that is easy to understand for the average reader. Every week, I write short news articles and summarize the progress of bills as they move through congress. This position has taught me how to research complex topics and make information more accessible for vulnerable communities.

I also have a passion for creative writing. My work has been featured in several literary journals, including Club Plum Literary Journal, Du Frank Lit, and Little Somethings Press. My background in creative writing is part of what makes me so adaptable in my professional writing. Since I write short stories, I am used to thinking outside the box and grabbing a reader’s attention with engaging material. I also know how to make every topic interesting, even the ones that seem boring.

My true passion is in making information accessible. Too often, important information is filled with jargon and big words, making it difficult for people to understand things that they deserve to know. As a writer, my number one goal is to help people access the information that they need while making them feel respected and accommodated.

So what do you say? If you think we’re on the same wavelength, I’d love to connect and discuss working together.
